OUR APPROACH
Curiosity, with care.
Unforgotten Casebook connects true stories with the books, screen adaptations, journalism and documents that explore them.
A new collection, built to grow
Unforgotten Casebook is a new site. We are adding stories, connecting more media and improving existing case files as the collection grows. Have a name, a source or a suggestion? Suggest A Case and help shape what comes next.
How we use AI
We use AI to assist with research, organize resources and generate drafts of case summaries and media descriptions. These guides help you discover a story and its sources; they are not firsthand reporting or personal product reviews. AI-assisted content can contain errors. Follow the linked reporting and official records for the original material, and send a correction if something needs attention.
Real stories that changed lives
Alongside true crime, we include public health, environmental accountability, workplace and civil rights, disability access, journalism, science and sports stories with books and screen portrayals. We distinguish enacted laws, court rulings, settlements and policy changes, and identify companion books and fictionalized adaptations.
People before nicknames
We use recognizable case names to help readers find information, while keeping the people affected at the center. We avoid graphic imagery and distinguish allegations, convictions and interpretation.
Know what you are reading
We label documentaries, dramatizations, journalism, court documents and government research. A source link is not an endorsement of every claim. Initial book listings are based on publisher information; they do not imply personal testing or reading.
Recommendations with context
We explain the relevance of a book or service and identify paid links. We do not invent reviews, ratings, discounts or scarcity.
Sources & corrections
Each case collects links to its sources. Dated reporting is identified as such. This collection is developing; entries can be revised as new verified information becomes available.
The brand logo is AI-assisted artwork, not evidence from a case.
