DNA, a wrongful conviction and the search for the person who killed her
Eighteen-year-old Angie Dodge was killed in her Idaho Falls apartment in 1996. Christopher Tapp was convicted, but DNA evidence and years of scrutiny eventually helped clear him. Genetic genealogy led investigators to Brian Dripps, whose DNA matched evidence from the crime scene. Tapp was exonerated in 2019. Dripps pleaded guilty to murder and rape and received a sentence of twenty years to life in 2021, bringing a different legal outcome after decades of investigation.
