The campus murder behind the Clery Act
Nineteen-year-old Jeanne Clery was sexually assaulted and murdered in her Lehigh University dormitory in 1986. Her parents challenged campus security practices and the lack of public crime information. Their advocacy helped establish national campus-safety disclosure requirements.
