On June 10, 1980, Candy Montgomery visited Betty Gore at the Wylie home. Gore died during the encounter. Montgomery later told the court she had acted in self-defense; the jury acquitted her on October 30, 1980.
The house connects the physical setting with a case later retold in books and television dramas. Those adaptations are separate from the trial record. A modern exterior photograph would show the property decades after the events, not necessarily its appearance in 1980.
