Jennifer Dulos

Jennifer Dulos vanished in Connecticut in 2019 during a contentious divorce. Her estranged husband Fotis was charged but died before trial. CASE 431Columbia, South Carolina

2019

Samantha Josephson

Samantha Josephson, a University of South Carolina senior preparing for law school, disappeared after leaving Columbia’s Five Points district in March 2019. She entered a car she believed was her requested ride and was killed. Investigators used vehicle evidence, surveillance and forensic testing to build the case against Nathaniel Rowland. A jury convicted him in 2021, and he received a life sentence. South Carolina’s appeals court upheld the convictions in 2024 and subsequently declined rehearing.

CASE 434Woodland Park, Colorado

2018

Kelsey Berreth

Flight instructor and mother Kelsey Berreth disappeared from Woodland Park, Colorado, on Thanksgiving in 2018. Investigators examined her fiancé Patrick Frazee’s account and evidence supplied by Krystal Lee, who testified about the killing and its concealment. A jury convicted Frazee in 2019 of murder and related offenses. He received life without parole plus additional years. Colorado’s appeals court upheld the conviction in December 2022, a ruling reported by local newsrooms the following month.

CASE 432Brooklyn, Iowa

2018

Mollie Tibbetts

Mollie Tibbetts disappeared during an evening run in Brooklyn, Iowa, in July 2018. The search drew attention to surveillance footage showing her route and a nearby car. Investigators eventually questioned Cristhian Bahena Rivera, who led them to her remains. A jury convicted him of first-degree murder in 2021. The Iowa Court of Appeals affirmed the conviction in 2023, addressing challenges to his police statements and the rejection of a request for a new trial.

CASE 096Colorado

2018

Shanann Watts & her daughters

Chris Watts killed his pregnant wife Shanann and their daughters Bella and Celeste in Colorado in 2018. He initially appeared in public appeals for their return. His guilty pleas and the discovery of the victims revealed that the disappearance story had concealed a family murder.
