2022–2026

The University of Idaho Students

Madison Mogen, Kaylee Goncalves, Xana Kernodle and Ethan Chapin were killed in Moscow, Idaho, in November 2022. Bryan Kohberger pleaded guilty in 2025 and received four consecutive life sentences without parole. October 2026 reporting covers his post-conviction petition and effort to disqualify the sentencing judge; canceled hearing dates did not reverse the convictions.

CASE 103Idaho & Arizona

2019

Lori Vallow & Chad Daybell

The disappearance of Tylee Ryan and J. J. Vallow led investigators to remains buried on Chad Daybell’s Idaho property. The investigation also encompassed the death of his wife Tammy. Lori Vallow and Daybell were convicted in separate trials arising from the killings and related conspiracies.

CASE 429Idaho Falls, Idaho

1996

Angie Dodge

Eighteen-year-old Angie Dodge was killed in her Idaho Falls apartment in 1996. Christopher Tapp was convicted, but DNA evidence and years of scrutiny eventually helped clear him. Genetic genealogy led investigators to Brian Dripps, whose DNA matched evidence from the crime scene. Tapp was exonerated in 2019. Dripps pleaded guilty to murder and rape and received a sentence of twenty years to life in 2021, bringing a different legal outcome after decades of investigation.
